Welcome to the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Jahangirnagar University. The objective of the department is to provide specialized knowledge in a major field of biotechnology, and the technical skills to enable to work with interdisciplinary teams of biotechnologist in academic, corporate and government research settings. The Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering offers graduate program (4 years B.Sc. and 1 year M.Sc.) and postgraduate programs (MPhil, PhD) in Biotechnology. These programs are designed to provide fundamental training in basic scientific principles as well as in specific concepts, techniques, and applications used in biotechnology. To support this aim, the graduate program faculty includes biologists, chemists, physicists, mathematicians and engineers who serve as dissertation advisors. Currently, Over 196 students are enrolled in these programs which will prepare them for work in the health and environmental protection sectors, in research laboratories and in those areas of industries which implement biotechnology.
